“Down” is the key word here. I have long-standing post-complete hysterectomy insomnia (since 2006). I take sleep meds, but they don’t always work. As soon as my head hits the pillow, I do a combination of things: (1) I change my breathing to a slightly sharp inhale followed by a slower exhale and (2) I “push” my body downward with each exhale. It usually puts me to sleep in minutes, even on those bad nights when the meds don’t kick in as fast as they usually do. Thanks for a useful article!
