12 Steps to Get Through a Colonoscopy Prep

Because you love yourself enough to have one, right?

I’m going to take a flying leap here and assume you love yourself enough to have a colonoscopy prep. Or at least enough not to want to die a from a very treatable fatal disease, assuming it’s caught in its early stages. If you don’t love yourself enough to have a colonoscopy, you might want to work on that.

Keep the End Result in Mind

Tuck this in the back of your mind while you read the rest of this story: Basically, at the end of your colonoscopy prep, you want to blowing clear water out of your butt. Everything I suggest below is to accomplish this end with the least agony possible, OK? Got it? Good. First, some simple information, then we go through the prep.

Why Should I Have a Colonoscopy?

Colorectal cancer is the third most commonly occurring cancer in men and the second most in women. There were more than 1.8 million new cases in 2018.

My maternal uncle and my sister-in-law’s mom were among those 1.8 million people. You don’t want to be the next in line.

Colorectal cancer is highly treatable if it’s caught early; on the flip side, if it’s caught late, it metastasizes quickly and you could be dead in a matter of months…
